To benefit
The Platte Canyon High School
Cross Country Team and
Children with Developmental Disabilities in Park County
As part of the Flume's Forth Annual Holiday Extravaganza at Fitzsimmons Middle School on Nov. 21-22, this year we are having the Third Annual Extravaganza 5k Run/Walk. The Flume is helping to coordiante the race in partnership with cross country coachs Jeanie Boymel and Todd Larsen and our Community Center Board - The Resource Exchange (Colorado Springs based), which helps children with developmental disabilities.
40% of net proceeds will be split 50-50 between the Platte Canyon High School cross country team, through Jeanie Boymel, and children with developmental disabilities in Park County, through The Resource Exchange.
To reach the start line
Directions
from Denver: Go southwest on U.S. 285 to Fitzsimmons Middle School, on
the right hand side of U.S. 285. It is 3.6 miles west of downtown
Bailey, which is about 40 miles southwest of Denver.
Directions
from Fairplay: Go northeast on U.S. 285 about 35 miles, a little over a
mile past Shawnee, and turn left into the school complex at the first
entrance encountered.
Course
The course is a combination of cross
country and road race style. We stay on the school property entirely.
We start at the old football field just east of the pool entrance at
Platte Canyon High School. We run around the old high school track,
around the back of the east high school building, down the sidewalk
area and in front of the new high school and middle school, down to a
road crossing where we cross U.S. 285, run through the open hay field
where a trail is cut, around the track, again through the hay field, up
the bleachers, cross the bridge over U.S. 285, around the old field and
school again, and finish in the middle school parking lot area!
